Infovista ready to support winners of Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum auction

Outdoor and indoor planning and testing solutions from Infovista will aid new private 5G network services delivery

Ashburn, Virginia — September 29, 2020 Infovista, the leading provider of network planning, testing, performance and application control solutions, has announced full product support to assist with the first roll out of new services utilizing the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) 3.5Ghz spectrum that was auctioned by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) at the end of August.

CBRS is a 150 MHz frequency band from 3550 MHz to 3700 MHz originally assigned for shared federal and commercial use. CBRS spectrum enables private cellular networks using proven 4G/LTE and promising 5G technologies. By providing high-speed data offload and in-building coverage, it can also enable enterprises and their IT providers to build-out private LTE networks supporting large warehousing, factories, and remote facilities such as mining and construction.

228 bidders from across multiple industries paid $4.6bn to secure 91% of the 22,631 available licenses. CBRS will likely be used in private and geographically restricted LTE deployments offering many performance and range benefits over traditional Wi-Fi technologies.

Infovista TEMS, the market-leading end-to-end network testing solution, is pre-certified and tested across the entire CBRS spectrum and through close cooperation with equipment vendors, chipset manufactures and device vendors, TEMS is able to use all major new devices to quickly provide in-depth subscriber (QoE) and the network (QoS) insights to enable better network investment and design choices.

CBRS deployments are also fully supported by Infovista Planet, the market-leading RF planning and optimization software, to enable network operators, utilities and enterprise IT providers to efficiently plan, design and optimize radio coverage, to improve their existing mobile networks or to offer fixed wireless Internet services. Recently enhanced by the converged indoor network planning capabilities delivered by iBwave, Infovista Planet allows successful CBRS bidders to design and deploy 4G or 5G networks within buildings and surrounding outdoor areas faster, without the need for separate survey and siloed planning activities.

“The success of the CBRS auction highlights the importance and potential value of the 3.5Ghz spectrum as a way of balancing the reach of 4G with the performance of 5G technologies,” said Andy Asava, Executive VP Global Networks for Infovista. “We had already built support for CBRS into TEMS and Planet. The recent auction unlocks a range of new customers that we are keen to engage with and help deliver value from their respective investments.”

TEMS and Planet also support the upcoming C-Band spectrum between 3.7GHz and 4.2GHz that is currently used by satellite service providers to transmit TV and radio services across the US that are expected to be auctioned by the FCC in December 2020.
