Report Highlights Importance of Drilling Down to the Root of the Problem to Ensure Best-in-Class Network and Application Performance

Paris, France, and Herndon, VA – October 21, 2008 InfoVista (Euronext IFV - FR0004031649), the leading provider of  proven solutions for proactive service assurance, today announced the availability of a new benchmark report titled, “The Value of Network and Application Visibility: Improving the Usability of Performance Data,” by the Aberdeen Group, a leading provider of fact-based research and market intelligence. The report, co-sponsored by technology vendors providing best-in-class capabilities in the network and application performance industry, and released September 2008, analyzes survey results from 167 organizations worldwide to illuminate the best practices for improving visibility into network and application performance.

“As the complexity of managing network performance is increasing, the key for gaining benefits from achieving full visibility into network application performance is not in the quantity of performance data collected, but in developing capabilities that would allow organizations to improve the usability of this information,” said Bojan Simic, research analyst, Aberdeen. “We found the difference between best-in-class performance and others is a set of characteristics incorporated in their network and application visibility strategies.”

Participating organizations were grouped into three categories based on their ability to ensure the availability of applications, improve the mean-time-to-repair of application performance issues, and prevent application performance issues before end users were impacted. The study revealed that even though 85 percent of organizations increased the amount of network and application performance data collected over the past two years, only 41 percent of these organizations improved their ability to prevent issues with network and application performance over the same period of time. This finding demonstrates that only network and application performance information that can be acted upon will prevent disruption to business processes.

“We are pleased to work with Aberdeen and other industry players to sponsor this research,” said Grégoire Michel, senior vice president, marketing and business operations for InfoVista. “With the rapid increase in the demand for new applications and services, it will be critical for enterprises and service providers to have the ability to monitor the capacity, utilization, and types of traffic running on their networks and servers to ensure applications are always more available. It’s all about guaranteeing a quality end-user experience which, in the end, supports revenue generating activities such as customer acquisition and retention strategies along with the successful delivery of new services.”

Among other important research findings, results from the report included the discovery that best-in-class
companies spend, on average, $107 less annually per user than other organizations when it comes to
managing network and application performance and are twice as likely to decrease the number of calls to the help desk due to issues with network and application performance as compared with the others.
