Assuring Next Generation Backhaul Deployments with Performance Visibility
Today, Wireless Service Providers are under intense pressure to expand backhaul network capacity to meet the rapid growth in traffic. As they rush to deploy more Carrier Ethernet bandwidth, Wireless Service Providers are beginning to realize the complex nature of managing the performance of this new transport technology. This complexity is exacerbated by the quality of service (QoS) demands of the various types of services traveling over their networks and the multiple technical options available to deploy the new network infrastructures. Despite the predicted cost advantages of Ethernet, many Wireless Service Providers risk missing out on the opportunity to reduce operational costs due to their lack of familiarity in efficiently managing and assuring the performance of Carrier Ethernet transport networks.
While most Wireless Service Providers already have toolsets that provide some type of visibility into the traffic across specific backhaul links, many lack a consolidated, collaborative solution that provides a real-time, end-to-end view of their wireless backhaul network performance. To capitalize on the mobile broadband market, Wireless Service Providers must implement a proven, Metro Ethernet Forum-aligned (MEF), Lifecycle-Aware Performance Assurance (LAPA) solution that puts pertinent and actionable data in the hands of the key functional groups responsible for deploying and assuring each stage of their wireless backhaul network lifecycles.
