Aligned with MEF and ITU Standards, New Release Enables Enterprise VPN and Wholesale Mobile Backhaul Services Accelerating Infrastructure ROI

PARIS, France and HERNDON, Virginia—February 16, 2010 - InfoVista, the global leader of IP and RF planning, assurance and optimization software solutions,  today announced it has expanded its performance management solution to enable service providers to more readily launch new Carrier Ethernet services that support revenue growth.  In spite of a sluggish economy, the Carrier Ethernet market continues to be one of the fastest growing segments in the telecom industry.  With this release, InfoVista continues to make it easier for service providers to have the network intelligence needed to offer new services with the added advantage of dedicated reports, workflows, and technologies that align with Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standards.  Additionally, VistaInsight for Networks 4 offers enhanced support for Ethernet equipment and technologies from leading vendors to support the increased adoption of Carrier Ethernet cross domain.

“With adoption of Carrier Ethernet on the rise, in part due to the wholesale of mobile backhaul, alternative VPNs, and storage and data center consolidation, service providers need OSS tools that support Carrier Ethernet standards to enable rapid rollout of these new services,” said Kevin Vachon, chief operating officer for MEF. “We are proud that InfoVista is a participating MEF member and the alignment of VistaInsight for Networks with MEF specifications supports both the growing global acceptance of Carrier Ethernet and service providers in their pursuit of accelerated revenue growth.”

New functionalities in VistaInsight for Networks 4 that accelerate Carrier Ethernet deployments include MEF-aligned Carrier Ethernet reporting for Cisco EVC and ADVA; support for new Ethernet OAM probes and Y.1731 standards for end-to-end performance measurements. Additionally, the solution offers enhanced VLAN reporting, and core support for Carrier Ethernet equipment and reporting technologies from leading vendors including Cisco, ADVA and Juniper.

“Intelligent Carrier Ethernet services for mobile backhaul and enterprise applications rely on comprehensive OAM functions for service assurance and simplification of network operations,” said Michael Ritter, vice president of technical marketing for ADVA Optical Networking. “Deploying VistaInsight for Networks enhances the value of OAM functionality available in network solutions, helping to increase service availability and streamline network operations. Aligning the capabilities of network elements and back-office systems is essential for large-scale Carrier Ethernet deployments.”

“The enhancement of our solution comes at a time when service providers are seeking innovative ways to answer the growing market demand for Carrier Ethernet services,” said Vikas Trehan, senior vice president of the network performance management business line for InfoVista. “VistaInsight for Networks 4 is designed to reduce the time to market for standards-based Carrier Ethernet services helping quickly monetize their infrastructure investments. Off-the-shelf functionality will help service providers differentiate and capture the fast growing mobile backhaul market by providing customized performance SLAs.”
