InfoVista Joins Nortel-Led Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem
Consortium to Leverage VistaInsight® for Networks 3.0 for Reliable and Secure Delivery of Business-Critical Applications across Carrier Ethernet Networks
Paris, France, Herndon, VA – January 15, 2008 – InfoVista (Euronext IFV - FR0004031649), the leading service-centric performance management software vendor, today announced that it has joined an industry consortium spearheaded by Nortel dedicated to creating a Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem. The ecosystem is a collaborative network focused on new solutions to meet the bandwidth explosion from the growing popularity of video, advanced business services, mobile content, streaming media and multimedia messaging. These solutions are designed to help reduce the costs and complexity and increase the scalability and reliability of carriers’ next generation communication infrastructures.
“We’re excited to be a part of the Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem as it makes it easier and faster for service providers to realize the tremendous revenue opportunities available to them via Ethernet-based business services,” said Manuel Stopnicki, InfoVista’s chief technology officer. “InfoVista strongly believes in the value proposition of Carrier Ethernet for service providers and enterprises and we will continue to lead the industry in providing solutions to monitor such networks and services.”
Released in October 2007, VistaInsight® for Networks 3.0 is an updated version of the company’s flagship performance-monitoring software for fixed, mobile and cable service providers. The solution has been designed to enhance service providers’ ability to meet customer demand for accurate and secure delivery of business-critical applications across Carrier Ethernet and IP networks. VistaInsight for Networks 3.0 features support for aggressive Service Level Agreements (SLAs) over Carrier Ethernet infrastructure; enhanced support for next generation mobile backhaul infrastructure; and greater visibility into network performance and capacity management made possible by upgrades to VistaFoundation®, InfoVista’s underlying technology platform.
“As we begin to deploy Carrier Ethernet solutions using Nortel’s PBB/PBT technology, we are happy to see that InfoVista, our performance management software vendor, has joined the Ecosystem,” said Simon Perkins, CEO of Australia-based Silk telecom. “By aligning their efforts to support our needs, we feel confident we can reap the cost and performance benefits Carrier Ethernet transport delivers.”
“We are seeing growing momentum for the adoption of Ethernet for carrier networks as demonstrated by the increasing roster of customers that rely on this simple, yet sophisticated technology to meet skyrocketing bandwidth demands,” said Mike Adams, vice president of strategy and architecture, Metro Ethernet Networks, Nortel. “At the same time, vendors are increasingly supporting the shift to Ethernet. As a provider of performance management solutions for next generation networks, InfoVista has been at the forefront of the Carrier Ethernet movement. We welcome them and the expertise they bring to the Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem.”
